The Self-Sufficiency Standard for New York State 2010

The Empire Justice Center, together with the eight other organizations, has released the 2010 Self Sufficiency Standard for New York State. The report, authored by Dr. Diana Pearce, measures the income and earnings necessary for families to be self-sufficient in every county of the state. The report creates looks at the real expenses of working families – housing, child care, transportation, food, taxes (including tax credits) and other essentials, to create a standard for various family compositions within each county, recognizing that the age of children in the household means creates different expenses.
