Prototype Testing Extended

Who remembers reconsideration? Most advocates in New York have not had to deal with the reconsideration step of the administrative appeals process in quite some time. That’s because New York is a “prototype state,” one of the lucky ten states selected to test out elimination of the reconsideration step, along with single decision maker. In fact, the test has been going on for so long, it's hard to remember that it's not in place all across the country, and that it hasn't always been this way.
SSA recently announced extension of the disability prototype process until September 28, 2012. 74 Fed. Reg. 48797 (September 24, 2009).
