Legal Services Journal - Summer 2011 :

The Summer 2011 Legal Services Journal reports on a wide range of poverty law topics with an emphasis on areas impacted by New York State budget cuts and other legislative activities. The issue reviews Empire Justice Center's 2011-2012 legislative priorities and includes an in-depth look at legislative activities in the domestic violence area. The Journal also reports on several key public benefits and health areas affected by the recent State budget cuts including child care, 24-hour home care and the EPIC program for seniors. ANNUAL/WEEKLY FEE

In Cattaragus, Livingston, and Otsego counties

parents pay 10% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $1717 per year, or $33 per week

In Delaware & Nassau counties

parents pay 17.5% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $3004 per year, or $58 per week

In Allegany, Clinton, Columbia, Essex, Fulton, Ontario, Putnam, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady, Tompkins  Washington and Westchester counties

parents pay 20% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $3434 per year, or $66 per week

In Albany, Chautauqua, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Monroe, Oneida, Orleans, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Suffolk, Tioga, Ulster, Warren and Wayne counties

parents pay 25% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $4292 per year, or $83 per week

In Dutchess, Franklin, Steuben and Wyoming counties

parents pay 30% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $5151 per year, or $99 per week

In Rockland County

parents pay 33% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $5666 per year, or $109 per week

In Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Erie, Genesee, Greene, Montgomery, Niagara, Onondaga, Oneida, Orange, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Sullivan, and Yates counties

parents pay 35% of their income over the poverty level for a child care subsidy

this means they pay $6010 per year, or $116 per week
