Tax Preparation Program

The C.A.S.H. EITC program is designed to help working families improve their long-term economic well-being. Read More  The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable tax benefit offered by the Federal and New York State governments. The Earned Income Tax Credit is available to people who worked in 2008 and earned less than $ 41,646. Because the EITC is a refundable credit, any amount of the credit exceeding the amount of taxes owed will be returned to you in the form of a refund. Etc.

For Volunteers:

The success of the C.A.S.H. initiative is due largely in part to the dedication and commitment of the C.A.S.H. volunteers. For as little as 3 hours a week from late January – mid-April, you can help low-moderate income working families get, keep and grow their money.

C.A.S.H. recruits hundreds of volunteers to be:

C.A.S.H. Front Desk Managers:  Friendly, organized volunteers who schedule and greet clients and make sure they have the paperwork necessary for tax preparation.  The Front Desk Manager also controls the flow of traffic throughout the site and ensures that the site is operating smoothly.  2-hours training required for all volunteers and on-site support will be available for the first week.

C.A.S.H. Advisors: Serves as the link between the C.A.S.H. clients and community services. The C.A.S.H. Advisor meets with the clients to determine their interest in financial programs and services and provides information about community resources that can help improve the client’s economic self-sufficiency. 4-hours training required for all volunteers and on-site support will be available for the first week.

C.A.S.H. Tax Preparers – No Experience Necessary:  Prepares federal and NY state tax returns for C.A.S.H. clients eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) using the IRS Tax Wise software.  Full training (12-16 hours) is provided and on-site support will be available. Must be comfortable working with computers. 

C.A.S.H. Quality Reviewers: Responsible for reviewing all completed tax returns to ensure that all information was input correctly and to IRS standards.  Returning C.A.S.H. tax preparers only.

  • Training is provided.  (Training Schedule will be available October 2010)
  • No experience necessary.                   
  • Must be comfortable with computers.       
  • Sign language interpreters and bi-lingual volunteers welcome
