Tax Season Offers Opportunity to Assess Needs of Low-Income Working Families
The Creating Assets, Savings and Hope Coalition (C.A.S.H.) in Rochester, NY, focuses on improving the financial stability and economic security of low income workers in Monroe County. C.A.S.H. reaches these households during tax season by operating VITA sites (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). Workers that fit within the profile of persons who may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit are offered free income tax preparation services.

C.A.S.H. Update - Week 8 of Tax Season
We are 75% of the way through tax season, and just about every site has completed more returns than last year at this time. Our partner sites at Genesee Co-of Federal Credit Union and Rochester Rehabilitation have each completed more returns than they did throughout last year’s entire season! At this point, we are about 4% ahead of last year. If we keep this pace, we’ll meet our goals.
